One of the greatest investments that you can make is by investing in yourself. As a longtime member of AMA, Carla Fleming, Chief Mission Officer of Renewable Marketing LLC, operates by this belief, and stresses the importance of networking to exchange ideas with like-minded professionals. “You’ve got to invest in yourself to be able to invest in others,” says Fleming. “One way that I have been able to do so, is by serving as a volunteer in AMADC programs,” she states. Carla believes in the power of connecting with members in the Washington metropolitan area so much so, that she volunteered as a mentor for AMADC’s Marketers Helping Marketers Mentor program. “I have found that the more involved that you become in the unique programs that are offered through the association, the more AMADC can offer yourself and others,” says Fleming. “What you give, is what you get back,” she adds.

Carla received her bachelor’s degree in Management with a concentration in Journalism and Mass Media at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, and received an M.B.A. with a concentration in Marketing at the George Washington University. Fleming also taught Marketing Strategy and Marketing Management while serving as an Adjunct Professor at the Johns Hopkins University-Carey School of Business, and at her alma mater – the George Washington University M.B.A. programs. In addition to her time spent in academia, Carla has held various marketing management roles with IBM, and currently serves as a Chief Marketing Officer for the startup membership clean energy organization, Leaders in Energy.

As a Chief Mission Officer for her firm Renewable Marketing LLC, Carla provides marketing strategy consultation to business-to-businesses companies looking to leverage and reenergize their mission and growth.

Words of Wisdom:
“There is a wealth of knowledge and insight to be gained from accessing the thought leadership that exists within the D.C. marketing community. I believe in the power of networking — get out there and connect with the remarkable marketers that are available in the AMADC network.”
